BBC Wildlife Photographer 2011
As in 2010 Roy Mangersnes was awarded Highly commended in the prestigious competition BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Also this time one of his bird images was chosen among 41 000 others. "Swoop of the sea scavenger" shows a White-tailed Eagle as it lifts from the surface of the fjord with a fish. It is a tight frame and backlit. NNPC 2011
In the international Nordic Nature Photo Contest, arranged by the magazine Natur&Foto, Roy Mangersnes was awarded no less than three category wins as well as two additional awarded images. He was category winner in Bird, People in Nature and Travel Photographer (one of the six image travel portfolio are shown on the left). His Hunting Goshawk was also awarded in the Birds category, while his Sinking Polar Bear was awarded in the Threatened Nature category. GDT awards 2010
Second year in a row, Roy Mangersnes was awarded in the prestigious competition GDT "European Wildlife Photographer of the Year". After receiving a Runner-up in the Landscapes category of 2009, he was awarded Highly commended in the Nature´s studio award with an image "Black Ice Triangle". BBC Wildlife Photographer 2010
After having several images in the finals in the last couple of year, Roy Mangersnes finally received an award in on of the worlds most prestigious competitions. His striking image of Yellowhammers clinging to a single straw of rye on a snow covered sanddune in Norway was Highly commended in the Animal portraits category. The image, called "Art of balance" have been selected to decorate different commodities sold at the Natural History Museum in London. See the other awarded images on this

GDT awards 2009
In his first attempt at the GDT "European Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2009" competition Roy Mangersnes was awarded a "Runner-up" in the landscape category. The GDT competition has grown to be one of the biggest in Europe and it is considered a real treat to be recognised. The image was taken January 2009 and shows Okshornan mountains on the photogenic island of Senja in Northern Norway. This spot has been recognised as the most picturesque landscape in Norway.
IWP awards 2008
The 2008 International Wildbird Photographer attracted entries from several countries around the world. Roy Mangersnes was awarded winner in the category "Birds of the world" with an graphic interpretation of the Gentoo Penguins on Aitcho Island, taken on the Antarctic trip in November 2008. Roy clinched the prize in front of Hungarian bird photographer Bence Máté.
IFWP awards 2008
At the annual congress of the International Federation of Wildlife Photographers, one of Roy Mangersnes' images was rewarded runner-up in the Composition and form category. It was the first time Roy entered the competition and it was nice to be recognised among professional photographers from around Europe. This years congress was held in Texel, Holland. Norwegian picture of year 2006
Roy Mangersnes had the winning picture in this year's competition "Norwegian Nature Photographer of the Year", organized by the magazine Villmarksliv. The image, showing two fighting Goshawks, won in front of several amazing images in the 2006 competition. In addition, Roy finished as runner-up in the overall competition.
IWP awards 2006
The 2006 International Wildbird Photographer attracted over 5 000 entries from 35 countries. Roy Mangersnes was rewarded runner-up in the category "Birds of the world" with an image of a Red-necked Phalarope, taken on the Alaskan tundra during the summer of 2005.
